This compact light-duty welding manipulator, also known as a welding column and boom, is purpose-engineered for small and medium fabrication workshops that need flexible automatic welding capability without occupying excessive floor space. Built with a 2-meter horizontal cross travel, a 2-meter vertical lift stroke and an integrated slewing rotating base, it delivers a wide working range while maintaining a space-saving footprint.
Paired with welding rotators or positioners, this unit performs consistent longitudinal seam and circumferential seam welding on pipes, stainless steel tanks, process kettles, shells and cylindrical vessels. It replaces inconsistent manual welding, stabilizes weld quality, reduces rework and polishing time, and helps fabricators automate their tank and vessel production line with a budget-friendly solution.
The rotating slewing base is a standout feature: operators can swivel the whole column-boom assembly to align with different workpieces, making it extremely adaptable for busy small workshops with multiple welding stations.
The vertical column and horizontal boom are constructed from thick rectangular steel sections. After full welded fabrication and stress-relief treatment, the frame resists bending and deflection even at full extension. Precision machined guide rails ensure smooth movement throughout the full 2m travel range.
The horizontal boom provides a full 2000 mm telescopic stroke. Driven by a reliable chain and reducer system, the boom runs smoothly with infinitely adjustable speed. It accommodates long straight seam welding for rolled tank shells and can reach across large diameter cylindrical workpieces.
The lifting stroke reaches 2000 mm, giving enough vertical adjustment to match different workpiece heights, roller heights and torch positions. The lifting drive maintains steady speed, avoiding sudden jerks that cause weld defects.
The heavy-duty slewing base supports free rotation of the entire column and boom. It allows operators to swing the welding head away for workpiece loading and reposition the torch to different weld positions quickly. This greatly improves workflow flexibility for limited-space workshops. Electric powered slewing rotation is available as an optional upgrade.
The torch holder supports fine tuning in X, Y and Z directions plus angular rotation. Welders can precisely set arc gap, torch angle and offset to achieve clean, uniform welds, which is critical for stainless steel sanitary tank fabrication.
All welding hoses, gas lines and control cables are routed inside a durable energy chain. It protects wiring from repeated bending and friction during boom extension and retraction, cutting down cable damage and unplanned downtime.
