The LT-MZ1222 welding column and boom manipulator is a modular automatic welding system engineered for heavy fabrication workshops producing cylindrical metal components. Paired with welding turning rolls, it forms a complete workstation that automates longitudinal straight seams and circumferential girth seams on tank shells, pressure vessel barrels, and large pipe spools.
Every component is designed as a coordinated module. The main column, travel carriage, telescopic boom, welding head, flux hopper, and control cabinet work together to deliver steady, repeatable weld quality. The system eliminates the inconsistency of manual welding and helps manufacturers increase output while keeping defect rates low. It supports submerged arc welding (SAW), MIG, MAG, and CO₂ gas shielded welding, and is compatible with carbon steel, stainless steel, and low alloy steel.
Constructed from thick steel plate and fully stress-relieved after welding. It forms the rigid backbone of the system, fitted with precision vertical guide rails. It suppresses vibration during lifting movement to keep the welding assembly stable.
Mounted on the column rails and driven by a gear-rack mechanism. The carriage carries the boom assembly up and down, adjusting welding head height to accommodate workpieces of different diameters.
Heavy-duty rectangular box beam with anti-torsion properties. It extends horizontally and travels at adjustable constant speed. It carries the welding head and flux feeding assembly, delivering linear movement for long straight seam welding.
Equipped with X/Y/Z three-axis torch fine adjustment. Operators can fine-tune torch position to align precisely with weld grooves, compensating for assembly gaps and plate misalignment during multi-layer welding.
Purpose-built for submerged arc welding. It stores flux and feeds it continuously during SAW operation, shielding the molten weld pool and creating deep penetration, high-quality welds.
Houses a PLC and touch screen HMI. Operators can adjust travel speed, store welding recipes, control all machine movements, and activate safety interlocks from this centralized control unit.
The cylindrical shell stays fixed on turning rolls. The boom drives the welding head horizontally along the full length of the straight seam, producing uniform long welds for rolled shell courses.
The workpiece rotates on turning rolls while the boom and welding head remain stationary. Continuous rotation creates full-circle ring welds for vessel barrels and pipe joints.
