This forklift-friendly hydraulic welding positioner is a redesigned heavy-duty tilting positioner built to simplify loading and relocation in busy fabrication shops. Unlike conventional positioners that require overhead cranes, slings and rigging hardware for setup or moving, this model integrates heavy-duty fork pockets directly into its base. Operators can slide forklift forks into the pockets, lift and reposition the entire machine quickly, or load workpieces onto the rotary table without a crane.
It retains all core functions of a hydraulic welding positioner: hydraulic stepless tilting, variable-speed rotary table, self-centering chuck and angle locking. Once the workpiece is secured, the unit tilts and locks the component at an ergonomic working angle for circumferential welding, grinding, polishing, inspection and repair. Paired with welding manipulators and welding power sources, it builds a flexible automated welding station for pipes, flanges, rings, elbows, tanks and pressure vessel segments. It is ideal for workshops with limited crane access or facilities that need to move positioning equipment between multiple work cells.
The heavy welded base is engineered with reinforced fork pockets. The pockets are thick-walled and fully gusseted to resist bending during forklift lifting. This design eliminates the need for lifting lugs, chains, straps and crane rigging. Shops can move the positioner around the floor, load large round workpieces onto the table and swap workpieces much faster. It reduces rigging time, cuts the risk of sling failure and improves overall site safety.
The main tilt frame and support legs are constructed from thick steel plate and structural sections. After fabrication, the whole assembly goes through stress-relief treatment to remove welding residual stress. Critical mating surfaces and the table mounting face are CNC machined. The rigid structure stays stable under full rated load, with minimal deflection during tilting and rotation.
An industrial hydraulic power pack and heavy-duty tilt cylinder deliver smooth, cushioned tilting motion from 0° to 90°. The hydraulic circuit includes a holding valve that locks the table firmly at any selected angle. There is no drifting or creeping once the target position is set, even under full load. Hydraulic hoses and valve components are protected with guards against welding spatter, dust and grinding debris. Tilting starts and stops softly to avoid shock loads on fixtures and workpieces.
The rotary platform uses a large heavy-duty slewing bearing for high load capacity and stable rotation. T-slots are machined into the table face so users can mount custom fixtures, back-up rings and tooling plates. The standard four-jaw self-centering chuck supports both external gripping and internal expansion clamping for tubular and round parts. Rotation is driven by a frequency-controlled motor and worm gear reducer for consistent, adjustable speed.
Control is provided via a handheld remote pendant and a local control box. Operators can adjust rotation speed, start/stop rotation and activate tilt functions from a safe distance away from heat and spatter. Standard safety features include emergency stop, tilt travel limit switches, hydraulic overpressure protection and motor overload cut-out.
This positioner is made for welding, grinding, surface finishing and repair work. It handles carbon steel, alloy steel and stainless steel parts. Its mobility makes it perfect for job shops, small vessel fabrication, pipe spool production and maintenance workshops.
